The 2004 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant’Urbano reveals notable clarity in its aromas and flavors. This focused, muscular Amarone offers tons of length on the palate but ultimately it comes across as slightly austere. Bottle age may help to some extent, but I don’t see this developing into an especially generous style of Amarone. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.
